Privacy Policy
This extension is built so that nothing about your passwords ever leaves your device.
What the extension does
Better Password Generator creates pronounceable passwords on your computer, in the browser. You can copy a password to the clipboard and optionally save your generation preferences.
Data collection
The extension:
- Does not collect personal information
- Does not collect generated passwords
- Does not collect browsing history
- Does not use analytics, advertising, or crash reporting
- Does not use cookies
Network activity
The extension makes no network requests. Generation runs entirely on-device. There is no server, no API, and no remote code. The extension contains no links out to any website.
Permissions
The extension declares no Chrome permissions and no host permissions. It cannot read the content of websites, cannot auto-fill forms, and cannot access your Google account.
Copying a password uses the browser clipboard API when you click a password. The popup also tries to copy the first password when it opens; if the browser declines, nothing is copied until you click. Settings are stored with localStorage in the extension’s own origin. Neither requires a declared permission.
What is stored on your device
Your generator settings (mode, length, separator options, and similar preferences) are saved locally in the extension’s localStorage so they persist between sessions. This data never leaves the device. Clearing site or extension data in Chrome removes it.
Generated passwords are shown on screen until you close the popup. They are not written to disk by the extension (except if you copy them yourself).
Limited Use disclosure
Better Password Generator’s use of information received from Google APIs, and any other user data, adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Concretely, and because the extension declares no permissions and makes no network requests:
- It does not transfer user data to any third party, for any purpose.
- It does not use user data for advertising, retargeting, or building user profiles.
- It does not sell user data.
- It does not allow humans to read user data.
- The only data it handles is your own generation settings, stored on your own device, which is necessary to provide the single user-facing feature: generating passwords the way you configured them.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the “last updated” date above will change with it. Material changes will be reflected here before they take effect in a published version of the extension.
